Orange boss: iPhone 5 release date is October 15

The CEO of France Telecom, parent company of Orange, has given a pretty clear indication that the iPhone 5 will be launching in mid-October, going as far as giving an actual release date.

Speaking to French media, the pretty chatty Stéphane Richard (who, lest we forget, is quite happy to wax lyrical on Apple's plans), said that his network had heard word of Apple's iPhone 5 coming soon:

"If we believe what we have been told, the iPhone 5 will be released on 15 October," said the CEO, declining to give further details on who or why had told him that. READ FULL ARTICLE: TECHRADAR 

Google outbid itself by 33% to purchase Motorola Mobility, reveals filing

A regulatory filing released by Motorola Mobility reveals that Google’s bid for the mobile maker increased by 33% prior to being accepted, thought to be driven by the company’s impressive patent portfolio, Bloomberg reports.

Before Google sealed the $12.5 billion acquisition, the search giant originally made an offer of $30 per share, an offer that Motorola Mobility’s advisers immediately countered with word that it was seeking $43.50 per share. As a result, Google upped its bids to $37 on August 9, increasing it further to $40 the same day, a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission reveals. READ THE FULL ARTICLE: TNW

In această lună, în ziua a paisprezecea, pomenirea înălţării cinstitei şi de viaţă făcătoarei Cruci: Înălţarea Sfintei Cruci.

Constantin cel Mare, întâiul împărat al creştinilor, avea război, precum zic unii dintre istorici, la Roma, împotriva lui Maxenţiu, până a nu lua împărăţia. Iar alţii zic că la apa Dunării, împotriva sciţilor.
Văzând că mulţimea potrivnicilor era mai multă decât oastea lui, era cuprins de nedumerire şi frică. Atunci i s-a arătat în amiaza zilei semnul Crucii cu stele pe cer, şi litere romane împrejurul Crucii, care şi acelea erau închipuite cu stele şi ziceau: "Întru aceasta vei birui". Făcând numaidecât o cruce de aur, după chipul celei ce i se arătase, şi poruncind să fie purtată înaintea ostaşilor săi, au dat război cu vrăjmaşii, dintre care cei mai mulţi au pierit, iar alţii au fugit.
Pentru aceasta, gândind întru sine la puterea Celui ce a fost răstignit pe Cruce, şi crezând că Acesta este Adevăratul Dumnezeu şi întărindu-se cu Botezul împreună cu maica sa, a trimis-o la Ierusalim ca să găsească Crucea lui Hristos. Şi a aflat-o ascunsă, împreună cu celelalte două cruci, pe care fuseseră răstigniţi tâlharii; şi nu numai crucile, ci şi piroanele le-au aflat. Neştiind împărăteasa care ar fi Crucea Domnului, s-a arătat aceasta prin minune. O femeie văduvă moartă, de care s-a atins Crucea, a înviat; iar celelalte doua cruci ale tâlharilor nu au arătat nici un semn de minune. Atunci împărăteasa s-a închinat şi a sărutat Crucea, împreună cu toata suita. Şi neputând încăpea tot poporul să se închine, s-a rugat ca măcar să o vadă. Atunci s-a suit Fericitul Macarie, patriarhul Ierusalimului, şi a înălţat deasupra amvonului Cinstita Cruce, si văzând-o poporul, a început a striga: "Doamne, miluieşte!" Şi de atunci a început a se ţine sărbătoarea Înălţării Cinstitei Cruci.

Google Partners With Intel At IDF Conference

Google will collaborate to optimise Android for Atom processor platform to help Intel’s mobile push

Intel executives are continuing to push their mobile computing efforts on multiple fronts, including with a newly announced partnership with Google to optimise the Android operating system for the chip maker’s Atom processor platform.

In his opening keynote on the first day of the Intel Developer Forum (IDF), Intel president and CEO Paul Otellini said the partnership with Google will be a key part of his company’s smartphone plans, with the first Intel-based smartphones due out in the first half of 2012.
